Memorial Day Part 2

The parade ended up better than hoped. The clouds moved out and we were all stripping coats. The mountain men came by. This is Kaleb's t-ball team.....way over there. Please keep in mind that I had the video going and trying to take pics at the same time. So this is the best front shot.
And there they go. Kaleb is #3.
The old time band. Klara didn't like the drums, they were too loud for her.
The old time firetruck made it's showing.
And all the other fire trucks showed up. Good thing no one needed there help, I think they were all at the parade. Sirens and lights.....boy it was loud.
Then we headed out of town to some friends house and had a BON FIRE with their old xmas tree. I think it was "seasoned" enough.
They have his motorized car out there that my kids just adore!!
Of course, the night ended with smores. Mmm.....thanks C!!

Memorial Day Weekend

Taking pics after all the rain we have had. Of course, the kids feel the need to pose??? We planted these trees last year...they were maybe up to Kaleb's hip then.....look at them now!!
The aspens are huge!! These were suckers out of our friends yard and were planted 4 yrs ago. This year they will pass the bldg!! Thanks Mo!!
The grass is greening up....we needed this rain. Water is SOOO expensive here. My avg water bill in the WINTER is $105 and that's with conservation. We are paying for the towns mistakes thru our bills. Gotta love the country.....huh! So very very happy for rain!
This was last night. The 3 of us asleep in the living room around 8:30pm. Of course, daddy stayed up till 3am. Night shift work stinks!
In a bit we will head to the parade where Clif and Kaleb will be in it for Kaleb's t-ball group. We will pull out our winter jackets...it's cold out there. Then off to town for the day for big monthly shopping and dinner with friends. That's the events for the weekend. I have to work on Monday and Clif too that night. I'll add those pics later. Until then..
Happy Memorial Day!!

Klara's Play Date

Klara's friend came over and we made Princess Crowns out of cereal boxes. I'm not crafty, but I think it turned out pretty cute. I wonder how long it will last. Busy with decorations.
And the final result. Klara loves hers so much that she even took a nap with it.

Kaleb's 1st T-ball Game

Sporting the new uniform. He loves it. Up at bat and nails the first one!!Looking out of the dugout.
The 2nd (and final) inning he was the catcher....at least that kept his attention longer.
They were a ton of fun to watch....some running to 3rd, some not running at all. We were a little unsure if the game would go due to the weather, but it held out and it was nice.

More Random Pics

My lilac bloomed!! It was so pretty and smelled great!! Now it's time to prune it down. Then next year I should get more.
Klara had a play date with her friend down the road. Instead of taking our normal walk, we had a craft day. The girls made necklaces and bracelets.

Then it was time for outside play time. (Please excuse the way our grass looks. I just started to water it and water is very costly out here.)
Our day was complete with a picnic lunch.
While waiting for the bus, we saw these orange oriental poppies in bloom. I have never seen a flower this brilliant before nor have the bloomed here before. They reminded me of the little orange survey flags, but nope, they were these flowers.
The "pods" are the blooms inside....see how "hairy" they are. Who knew that inside were those beautiful flowers.
This was the other night. Kaleb was beat!! He feel asleep on the "green chair" like this...snoring too!!And finally, this was this morning before school. Everyone was smiles and helpful so I took advantage of the moment.
Clif installed a screen door for us on the back kitchen door. We still need to fix the bottom of it where there is a gap. But this should let the awesome air flow thru better now. Thanks babe!!

Lemonade

When life (or parents) give you lemons (or fresh squeezed lemon juice)...then make lemonade.

Maybe I'm behind the times, but I looked on line on how to make lemonade since I had a ton of frozen lemon juice. I knew the basic idea, but how much exactly of what?? (type A personality coming out). I found a recipe that sounded good and thought I would try it.....and boy oh boy....yummy! So I thought I would pass it along to you.

Heat 3/4 cup sugar and 1 cup water on the stove until the sugar is dissolved (simple syrup)
...took me about 3 minutes.
Then add to this 1 cup fresh lemon juice.
Put this into your container and add 3-4 cups of water to your desired taste. Put in the fridge 30-40 minutes to chill and enjoy! If it's too sweet, add more lemon juice.
