T-Ball

It's happened. Our (Kaleb's) first t-ball practice.... He is so much happier playing t-ball than he was with soccer. I hope his fire for it stays lit. We are trying to encourage him and "play" ball with him to keep it fun. Yesterday was his first practice. His bus driver for school is his coach and most of the team is made up of his kindergarten classmates. He certainly feels more comfy this year. Can I say it again....spring in the mtns......so it was windy and COLD for practice. We were way under dressed standing around. Kaleb is still learning when and where to run...so he was very proud of himself to stand on 1st base....he forgot to run to the next ones.
Klara was seeking refuge by these doors. It made a lovely wind block. She took her water and sat there most of the time. However, she did have fun on the steps (left side) and the dirt hill.
During practice the 2 coaches split the team..some practiced batting and the other group (here) practice fielding the ball and throwing it. Kaleb needs to learn to get down on the ball....like Spiderman. He also needs to work on throwing the ball faster.....like the ball is a time bomb about to explode. Lastly, we still need to work on running and not mosey....be more like Dash on Incredibles. After his "talk" with the superheros...he politely asks me to remind him of this at his next practice.
Great follow thru. He was nailing that ball! We have practice twice a week and 12 games...mostly by our house and within walking distance. His first game will be in 2 weeks and more pics to come then.

Various Pics

Here are a few pics that needed to get off the camera, and I didn't have a fancy title for them. They really don't have a theme, so various is the best I could come up with. Klara is sleeping next to her bed on the floor one night. I think she falls out and then gives up. She must think it's too hard to get back up there. Last night I checked on her and her legs were on the floor with the rest of her body in the bed. So I like to think it's more of a controlled fall to get to this position. Either way, it's pic worthy b4 putting her back in bed.
My lilac is blooming!! I don't think it has come across my delight in this. It has more blooms now that the top of the bush is opening up more. No smell yet, but lots of little blooms like this one.
This is the top of the bush. You can see more blooms and the tippy top of it is blooming b4 all the leaves have come out. Happy, happy, happy....
Who is the coolest boy ever??? Kaleb's class had a spelling bee. He came in 5th place! Please keep in mind two things (or more)....1) the teacher gave us a list of practice words that had 2 and 3 letter words on it, but as he was nailing them, she came up with more words that he got right and had not practiced at home on. 2) He barely had a voice. He (like me) is dealing with allergies and most of you know how the wind blows in the spring here. So the pollen is infesting us....yes infesting! That caused him to cough so badly that he hardly had a voice. (Here comes point #3, see I knew it) 3) Mr Shy actually participated....that's award worthy right there. His girlfriend (yep, you heard me) and his best friend both took home medals. He was quite happy for them too.

Easter Again 2009

We got some more Easter weekend snow. This was the start of it....we ended up with more.
Kaleb in his Easter sweater....looking cute.
Klara in her Easter dress and hat. Here she is showing off her lipstick.
After church, we hurried to grandma and grandpa's house to have Easter with Clif's side of the family. Everyone was there so we got another group shot of all the cousins.
Left to right; Klara, Jonathan, Mackenna, Ryne, Kaleb, Mikayla, Weston and Grayson.
All the adults bring eggs and candyto hide. I think it took the women as much time to hide the eggs as it did for the kids to find them. Here is Kaleb showing off his loot.
Klara and her's.
Cute smiles....not sure if it was from all the sugar, but I'll take them both smiling at the same time any day. It was nice to be in the warmth and we had a great time.

City Easter Egg Hunt 2009

Our great little town has an Easter Egg Hunt every year. This year, due to weather, it was held at the town rec center. Talk about putting tons of people in a little tiny space.....Klara went first in her age group. This is her picking up the eggs. Each child is given a colored ticket. That ticket allows each one to a toy on the table. Klara found a baby, of course.
Then it was Kaleb's turn. He didn't do as good with the egg hunt....mommy picked up more eggs than he did. He got a ticket too and this is his toy.
After, we decided to play on the toys for a bit instead of fighting the crowd for a cheap lunch. However, it was cold so we only stayed for a little bit.
(notice the kids are standing in the snow....it must be spring)

Day Before Easter 2009

Well, more snow. This was last night...the snow started. I (Nekol) got the online recipe for IHOP Cheese Blintz. Klara and I headed down to the store early this morning and I made them. The pic doesn't make it look great, but oh how yummy!! (and cheaper than theirs).
The kids loved them too.....see their sugar smiles!
It's snowing today. This is what our backyard looks like as of now....9:45am.
And my dearest hubby started a fire (and the front door is open...shhh, don't tell him :)

Kindergarten Pic

Kaleb's spring picture in Kindergarten. I love this pic!!

Cooking With Mema

Mema brought cookie mix for the kids and what fun they all had. (It's a sucker in Kaleb's mouth)
Everyone gets their turn.
The snow we were having during this time.....so much for our blooms. Now we'll see if they will endure and actually bloom. Spring in the mountains.
Cookie cutting time!!
Decorate....and then they ate. I didn't get a pic of the finished product, but then we all know what they should look like.

Lilacs This Year???

This is my lilac bush that we planted 4 years ago and it has never bloomed. Last year I fertilized the heck out of it......and maybe it paid off. Looks like I got a few trying to bloom.

Home and Garden Show

Another year to visit the tractors....it seems that is the only reason to go anymore. The kids have more fun walking around there....better yet, no stroller!!!! What freedom!!!!!!!!!!
Kaleb loved the police booth. He sat in the police car and posed by the bike.
If there are bubbles around...they will be found....and destroyed....hahahahaha

Klara's Hair Cut

Klara was in need of a professional hair cut...not just a mommy cut that I can give. She had almost 2" taken off the length in the back. We go to our friends house and they have llamas. So a visit was in store.
" Mirror, mirror in my hands....who's the fairest in this land?????"

Tommy the Llama
Tommy didn't want to be petted, so we saw this one and said hello.

Early Easter

We did Easter early this year. Here are the kids showing off some of their creations. Note all the color on Klara's fingers. I think we are still stained from it.
The next morning, we hid the plastic eggs in the house and they both searched well for them.
