Snow Covered Trees
These pictures are from around town. I love the look of pine trees covered in snow.
Sledding
About 2 miles off the freeway is Snow Play Hill. We went there for the first time now that the kids are older. WOW! So much fun. It's a safe area made by the county for sledding or tubing. 
All 3 of them heading up the hill. There really should be a tow rope. Below: Kaleb was the first one down the hill. Mom was nervous but he wasn't. How outgoing he is becoming as he get older.
Oops.
Klara was not as excited. So she would ride with mom or dad. Then she loved it!
Mom couldn't keep her feet up...so she got snow in her face...a lot. Another oops.
So much fun. If anyone is coming to town, bring your sled. We would love to go anytime!

More Snow
This has been a beast of a storm....but we LOVE it!! Here is Clif using a "roof rake" to get the snow off our roof on the north side of our house. He found it easier to stand on the snow piles.
Here's his view of the roof.
This is all on the north side of the house. We get snow dams pretty bad, so heat tape is in the future (when the gutters clear out....maybe, June)

Today was filled with more shoveling. We cleared our driveway and sidewalk again. Then helped our neighbor (who helped with our flooding). There car was 20' behind a snow plow bunker and they were going no where. So after another plow came and removed most of it, we used shovels to get to her car, unbury it and helped her get out. At least they are not stuck anymore. Later we will go sleding and check on some grandparent friends of ours. That's the really neat part of this small town. Everyone helps everyone around here. I guess this town is growing on me after all. No more snow really expected today, just clouds. But the sun peeks out here and there....yet, another storm is expected on Wed. Where will we put that snow???

Flood
On top of the 2' of snow we had, it started to rain....and rain...and rain....then the way the city kind-of plowed us, they made a snow funnel and all the runoff water came right into our driveway. We found this out b/c we were headed out to check on the creek and city dam since both are in poor condition. As we headed to the garage, we saw rolling waves as our garage was being flooded. So we high tailed out the front door and found the following pictures. As usual, the pictures does not do this justice, but at least gives you the idea.
The pic above is out our front door and the pic below is at the end of our driveway. Clif was standing in the high part of the driveway when I got this pic.
So now what?? We called the city and they were unable to move our snow dam that they created. So Clif made a trench so some of the water could escape. I made another snow dam on the high end of the driveway/street to stop the street river from entering our driveway. Then we started to shovel the water off the driveway. The pic below shows our friend we called and his son had this tractor. So he came over in the pouring rain and moved all the snow from our house and both neighbors. He then pushed it all down a few house and down in the intersection was a small ocean. When he was done, we took another 30 minutes to fine tune the slop slush so it wouldn't back up again. We were drenched head to toe. Luckily the rain turned to snow again. Then we got another 1.5 feet of snow overnight.
This is this morning after shoveling....looking out the front door.

New Years
Kaleb was given this hard puzzle to do, so we all worked on it and it took a week to do.
Klara stayed up for the midnight New Year's horn blowing event.
Kaleb too, but he was cold.
Then on the 3rd, a friend of Kaleb's tried to shut the bathroom door and Kaleb's finger was in the hinge part of the door. This is what his finger looked like 4 days later. Much better!! Lots of epson salt soaks, ice, elevating, and more ice, neosporin...and yes, more ice. It doesn't appear broken and now (Fri) he is starting to use it more and more. Now that his finger is getting better, he has a 101 fever. Not a fun start to his 2010.
