Getting Closer

We are getting there. We now have tile.....but...well, I'll save that story for the end of this blog. This pic shows all the grout we had on there. Since the tile job is being done for free....we got to clean off the grout ourselves. The guy doing the tile said to let the grout dry before removing it...so we went out to eat and saw this beautiful sunset on our way there.
And then it started....removing the dried on concrete....I mean, grout.....It was a family project. Kaleb has a tool in hand and Klara is doing the sibling thing and pushing her brother (hehe). Later we brought out the vacuum and both kids got to help suck it all up.

This is the result. Clif did the grout and did a great job....even the tile guy said so when he came by. The install guys came by to do the piping....boo hoo....not enough tile in the front for code. We only need another 12" tile in the front.....so a call to the tile guy and he will fix it this next week. Another appt with the install guys is set for Thursday. Oh, and did you notice the orange extension cord in the pic??? That's for the tv. The plug still needs to be re-hooked up for the "circuit" to work again and then the tv will work without the extension cord. Hopefully that problem will be fixed this weekend.

A Few Days of Pics

We got snow!! This was Sunday afternoon. We ended up with 2-3"....enough to start to shovel.
The kids were being silly when I tried to get a pic of Kaleb's new clothes....that he just loves!!

We got a wood stove.....since this pic, Clif has painted it and really cleaned it up. We got it for a steal and it is sized just perfect for our size house (according to the internet). The guys come out on Friday to install it for us.

A friend of ours from our church volunteered his services to us to install the tile for the stove. This is not the best of pics, but it starts to give an idea of how it will look. He will come back tomorrow and finish the tile and grout. Then friday we will move the stove into place.
Later this evening, it came time to sit and watch tv. Well, it didn't turn on......uh oh. We tried a few things and still no power to anything on that wall. So we tried a few other outlets and still no power. Clif checked the breaker box and it was all ok. So we figure that we made the mistake. Before we could put up the tile on the wall, Clif had to disconnect a wall outlet. That wall outlet must be the main one...so if it doesn't work, the rest won't either. Oops. Chalk that one up to learning. So I think tomorrow, Clif will have to reconnect those wires to make another wall outlet and luckily Klara's room is on the other side of the wall....so we don't have to tear down all the tile. Well, now we know...and Klara will have another outlet in her room.
Currently, we have the power strip for the tv plugged into an extension cord and it's plugged into the wall on the other side of the house......very funny.

Head Turn

I'm not sure why you have to turn your head to see this, but I still think it is just too cute.

Kaleb had his b-day party on Saturday since the kids were really sick for his original date. I made his cake. I don't know what went wrong but this was the worst looking cake and a huge pain to make. So I drenched it in frosting and covered with army guys. Kaleb said it was the best cake ever.....he made his moms day since I was ready to throw it out the window 3 times. He felt he had to cover his mouth during the b-day song so not to blow out the candles too soon.
His friends were here to celebrate. A few couldn't make it but we still took the group pic.
Then after all the sugar of the cake they went outside to play.
He had a fun day and will celebrate with his cousins next sat. Pretty lucky guy to get 3 b-days this year.

Halloween Fun

The kids got dressed up 3 times this weekend. One for a fair at the school.....The next day daddy helped out and we all went to our chuch "festival".He loved his makeup.Klara wore makeup too, but didn't stay still enough for a great pic.
At the festival there were hayrides on tractors......hence the reflective triangle looming over us.

B-day Weekend

Yum, Kaleb and I splurged and had bought an ice cream cake....this was my piece (I wish). Then we made a halloween gingerbread house. Fun to make but since we bought it last year the candy seemed to turn to rocks. Then time for the annual pumpkin mutalation.
And the results are in.....
It was a fun weekend with my parents and we squeezed lots in.
