He's Playing!!!

Kaleb had another game today. I don't know why the difference (not that I'm complaining) but he is starting to play the game!! It all started this past Thursday. We got to practice early and he and I kicked our ball around. We started to play and slowly the other team members started to join in. He did all the stretches that coach asked him to and all the practice too. They swore that I bribed him, but I didn't. So then I didn't know if he would play or not at the actual game, but again, he did! I followed the same procedure as practice day and he did great. Again, he followed instructions from his coach and chased after the ball. I was so proud.

The ref did not show, so Clif was asked to step in. Of course, we are first timers and had to clue what to do....but Clif rose to the task and did awesome! I think he made have found a new hobby.

Bird House

Home Depot had their free craft day again. This time Klara was able to get her apron. This month's project was to build a bird house. Next month it will be a flag pole.

4th of July

The 4th was a busy day. We got lots of yard and house work done that morning....after a pancake breakfast of course. Then some friends came over and we all went swiming at our local pool for free. It was busy there but the "free" part made up for it. We hurried home and just beat a great thunderstorm. Then a few more friends came over for hamburgers and banana splits. We missed the evening parade, but with the rain we decided to stay dry inside. It was a great time eventhough we didn't have any fireworks....we did watch some on tv.

Soccer Time

It's soccer time!!! We are soccer parents. Too bad the player doesn't want to play. This is his first practice time and he finally did a little bit of participation at the end.

He just loves his uniform it's his favorite color and he is the #4. Very exciting for him.

This is game day during practice. He actually kicked the ball, but not during game time. He mostly just stood there.....maybe he'll do more next time.

Yep, we did it....finally. Clif traded in his jeep for this little red thing. We bought a 2008 Chevy Aveo. It's a roller skate, but it does almost twice as much in gas mileage. We miss the jeep and enjoyed our last "who-rah" in Colorado, but now it's time to make better decisions. So since Clif has to commute a minimum of 70 miles for work (minus any honey-do's I have for him) we opted for better gas mileage. It's a sporty little thing...when the A/C is off and there is room for the kids in the back. 5 speed with everything electric (except the mirrors) and cruise control. Of course, Clif has already pulled out the factory radio and installed a new one.

The Rest of June

What a whirl wind of activities for the rest of June. Here's a brief overview with lots of pics.

Then off to Colorado for a great vacation. (Except that Kaleb was sick the whole week, but he was quite the trooper.)

Ilove Klara's face. This was taken by one of the many waterfalls that were really flowing. There was still quite a bit of snow and with the warmer temps, it made for fast and loud waterfalls everywhere you looked!

This is only 1 of the many jeep trails we took. Most of them were closed off at the summits due to too much snow. The bulldozers come thru and plow out the road. Most of the time the plow was taller than the jeep. (Oh, thanks to the Sims for letting us borrow their hard top too!!)

I'm not sure why this pic would not transfer right, but it's still pretty funny. It's mini me.
We took the kids on the mine tour. Both did great, but all the running water and Kaleb had to go potty again while we were down there. He did make it and even got a pic in.
Then off to Yankee Boy Basin. Again, we could not get to the top, but had time to stop by another waterfall for a group shot. (Notice how we are dressed and what we were standing in.)

Now Ophir Pass as you can see. We did make it to the top of this summit, but another 4 miles down and the road was washed out. That doesn't seem dramatic enough....washed out....what was to be our road turned into another raging waterfall. The sheriff's dept asked us to let the other town know so they could close this road until repaired.

We also ventured to Box Canyon Falls....another photo moment.

And lastly, all the Lilac bushes were in full bloom. Ahh, they smelled so perfect!

Busy June

Gee, June has been busy already...and it's only the 10th. Our month started out with VBS. This year's theme was Outrigger Island (think hawaiian). Klara stayed in the nursery while Kaleb attend his class.

Kaleb got to color this iron-on and later wear it. He was quite proud of it, but mommy did help a bit. Ok, then I got this wild hair to paint our fence.....well, maybe it wasn't too wild of a hair since the fence needed some serious help. So I started on my way. (They make it look so much easier on HGTV....presto and it's done!!)

Keep in mind, the paint still needed to dry....it really looks a TON better!! The whole fence only took 3 afternoons and 2 gallons of paint....and a few new play shirts for the kids. As day #1 of painting came to a close, I thought I heard my address being called out from heaven....yes, really.....and then I heard that heaven has a warrant for my arrest and I should come out because they were not leaving. So after I realized it wasn't heaven speaking (and the blood came back to my face) I went to investigate. I found the show COPS in my front yard.....ok, not really the show but it sure would have been if there had been a few cameras. I see a police suv practically in my front yard and his hand on his gun, the other hand on the microphone......my saving grace....he wasn't looking at me until I showed up. He asked me to leave since "it may get ugly". Of course I bee lined it back to my back yard and almost pee'd my pants. Yes, pee'd my pants....almost. Luckily the officer repeated himself (not heaven calling) and announced my neighbors address and all the above about the warrant. I immediately called someone as my "witness" by phone and kept her on line with me the rest of the time. They got my neighbor...all the screaming, yelling, authority, etc came out. There were a total of 5 police cars there to arrest this one guy. Gee, I feel safe living next door to them now...not. The drama was over just about as quick as it began, but I just had to share the info. As for the arrestee, he was back home that night and all is somewhat normal again there.

Moving on....the week at VBS was great. I did the craft area for the kids. It sure is a blessing to work with all the little ones. They seemed to learn so much that week and we had several 5th and 6th grades accept Jesus. What an awesome time!!

I'll end with Saturday when we went to Home Depot for the kids craft day. They got to build boats and paint them as well. Both kids had a ball with it and proudly showed off their creations.
